Obituary of Joseph Meilan

Joseph Meilan, 85, of Whiting, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at home. Born in La Coruna, Spain, he lived in Rego Park Queens, NY and Manhattan, NY before moving to Whiting 22 years ago. He was an engineering designer for Con Edison, New York City, retiring 22 years ago. Joseph was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a volunteer involved in Whiting Station. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. He was predeceased by his son, Joseph in 2009. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Pura; two sons and three daughters-in-law, Richard and Linda, Anthony and Joan and Joanne; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, July 27th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 10:45 a.m., Saturday, July 28th at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Entombment will follow at Whiting Memorial Park.
