Obituary of Donato Salandra
Donato Salandra, 83, of Whiting, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012 at home. Born in Jersey City, he lived in Green Brook for over 40 years before moving to Whiting in 2001. Donato owned several restaurants in Somerset County and owned and operated Lou's Clam Bar in Jersey City. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.
Donato is survived by his wife, Ann, of 56 years; three children and their spouses, Jane and Anthony Salvemini of Easton, PA, Gail and Steven Salvatore of Howell, NJ and Mark and Diane Salandra of Hillsborough, NJ; one sister, Rose Marie Marfleet of Leonia, NJ; seven grandchildren, Karen and Michael Salvemimi, Matthew and Maria Salvatore, and Nicholas, Christopher, and Jacqueline Salandra, and four nieces.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, Mar. 19th at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:45 a.m., Tuesday, Mar. 20th at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, donations to Deborah Heart & Lung Center, P.O. Box 820, Browns Mills, NJ 08015, would be appreciated.
