Obituary of Joan Anne Davey
Joan Anne Davey of Whiting passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015, at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Born in New York City, she grew up at the beach in Rockaway, NY, amid her large, extended family. She also lived in Mahwah and Waretown, NJ, before moving to Whiting. Joan worked as a secretary at high schools including Southern Regional. She was an officer of Skipper’s Cove Beach Club in Waretown and Crestwood Village VI Residents Club. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Whiting. Joan enjoyed shopping, playing cards, and relaxing with some wine and cheese. She loved to laugh, was a wonderful hostess, and threw great parties. More than anything else, she enjoyed the company of family and friends, and she was much loved by them.
Joan was predeceased by her beloved husband of 45 years, Francis F. Davey, in 1995. She is survived by her companion of 16 years, Dennis Dingman; her daughter, Frances and her husband Arthur P. Hines, III of Florida, and her daughter Donna and her husband James McCabe of New York City; her brother Paul Geier of Rumson, and sister Geraldine and her husband, Harry Fischer, of Whiting; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be offered Thursday, Sept. 10th at 10:45 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Schoolhouse Rd., Whiting. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, Whiting.
