Obituary of Loretta E. Kunz

Loretta E. Kunz (nee Saidel) of Jackson, NJ, formerly of Whiting and Hillside, died on Thursday, August 20, 2015. She was 94 years old. She was born in Newark and lived in Hillside until retiring to Whiting in 1981. She was the beloved wife of the late Fred C. Kunz for 55 years….. “the happiest years of my life,” she said. Loretta was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by a brother, William Saidel. Left to cherish her memory are her son, David Kunz and his wife, Helen of Marana, AZ; her daughter, Christine Farrell and her husband, John of Howell, NJ. She leaves behind precious grandchildren, Ian Farrell of Panama City Beach, FL, Laura Farrell of Howell, NJ, Kathleen Kunz of Marana, AZ and Omar Buenaventura of Yardley, PA and her great-granddaughter, Alyssa Farrell of Howell, NJ. After graduating high school, Loretta worked for Westinghouse in Newark. After marrying, she became a fulltime homemaker, devoting herself to her family. Her husband and their children were her greatest joy. Years later, when her grandchildren arrived, there was more for her to cherish. Loretta was gentle, kind and thankful, and a wonderful conversationalist. She loved crossword puzzles, music, especially the big band sounds, and line dancing with her friends during her retirement years. She valued learning. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh! Her masterful pies and cakes were special. She will be missed, but never forgotten. A special thank you to her caregivers at Bartley Healthcare and Holisticare Hospice. Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 24th from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting, NJ. Interment will be private.
