Virginia was a dear friend who I met as a 17 year old kid working at Bambergers. She was the woman I could talk to about boys and dating when I couldn't maybe talk about those things with my mother. We spent countless hours over our 36-year friendship laughing, dining out and taking walks together. My favorite memories are from getting ice cream at the Sundae Times and strolling along the boardwalk in Spring Lake.
Virginia felt blessed to have a child so late in life and she was thrilled to have 3 grandchildren. She always told me what was going on in their lives. In later years, we snacked on lemon poppy seed bread (her favorite) and reminisced about the old days. Her sight was not good, but she told me in her mind I was still young with long blonde hair. I told her I was now over 50 with gray hair and wrinkles and we both laughed.
I miss her dearly and always will. It was a unique relationship that I will always cherish. Lisa is now my sister of sorts and we will stay that way forever.
May you be comforted by the memories of your mother and grandmother. She was a grand lady who lived large and loud...a treasure for all who knew her.
Sincerely,
Alison
