Obituary of Angelo A. D'Agostino
Angelo A. D’Agostino, 88, of Whiting, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at AristaCare at Whiting. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he lived in Tarrytown, NY before moving to Whiting in 1993. Angelo was a physical education teacher at Charles E. Gorton High School, Yonkers, NY for 35 years, retiring in 1993. He was a substitute teacher for the Toms River School District. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Yonkers Federation of Teachers and the Tarrytown Recreation Commission. He was a member of the Residents Club of Whiting Station, the Senior Softball League and Keswick Health Club, both, of Whiting. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Toms River.
Angelo is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Florence D’Agostino; two children, Jeanne D’Agostino Dorn and her husband, Freddie of Ardsley, NY and Dennis D’Agostino and his wife, Helene of Huntington Beach, CA; one brother, Vincent D’Agostino; two sisters, Mary Soldano and Theresa Yuzzi and two grandchildren, Emilie and Charlotte.
Visitation will be Monday, July 13th from 2 to 7 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Rd., Whiting. A Funeral Mass will be offered Tuesday, July 14th at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hooper Avenue, Toms River. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Toms River. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
