Obituary of Raymond Picone
Raymond S. Picone, 89, of Whiting, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at home. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he lived there and Huntington Station, NY before moving to Whiting in 1988. Raymond was a design draftsman for Litton Industries, Melville, Long Island, NY for 20 years, retiring in 1988. He was a graduate of Pratt Institute and New York University for Engineering. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Raymond was a member of the Hanover Country Club. He was a sports enthusiast and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed his family and his friends and lived his life to the fullest. He loved animals and he was loved by all who knew him. Raymond was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Janet Picone in 1995 and his two sisters, Annette Covelli and Loretta Picone. He is survived by four children, Victoria Madzey and her husband, Tom of Bridgewater, NJ, Raymond Picone and his wife, Cathy of Greensboro, NC, Lawrence Picone and his wife, Catherine of Matthews, NC and Valerie Tufo and her husband, Daniel of Huntington, NY; one sister, Vera Worters and her husband, Lawrence of Merrick, Long Island, NY; 11 grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 28th from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Rd., Whiting. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10:45 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment will be Wednesday, Mar. 4th at 1 p.m. in the chapel at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Lung Association of New Jersey, 1600 US Highway 22 East, Union, NJ 07083 or the Parkinson Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.
