Obituary of Sr. Lakowitz
Joseph J. Lakowitz, Sr., 86, of Whiting, formerly of Hillsborough, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014 at home. Born in Belle Mead, NJ, he lived in Hillsborough, NJ before moving to Whiting in 2006. Joseph was a carpenter and worked for the Brotherhood of Carpenters, Local 781, Princeton, NJ for 38 years, retiring in 1989. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was an avid hunter for many years. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 48 years, Eva Marie; one son, Joseph Lakowitz, II and his wife, Fern Katzman Lakowitz of Hillsborough, NJ; one daughter, Jennifer Lakowitz and her husband, Brett Winter of Easton, PA; one sister, Nellie Perone and her husband Dominick of Whiting; one granddaughter; Kendall Winter of Easton, PA and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, August 15th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting, NJ. A funeral liturgy will be offered at 10:45 a.m., Saturday, August 16th at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment will follow at Neshanic Cemetery, Hillsborough, NJ. Donations in his memory may be made to Van Dyke Hospice, 99 Route 37 West, Toms River, NJ 08755-6423.
