Obituary of Edward Opalach
Edward Opalach, a member of the "Greatest Generation", died on July 5th, just one month shy of his 92nd birthday. He had many nicknames: Eddie Baker, baker in US Navy; Uncle Eddie, to many of his nieces and nephews; brother and brother-in-law to many, including his sister, Helen Opalach and his sister-in-law, Margaret Sarge; Mr. O, to his son-in-law, Bill; Husband and best friend to the late, Helen M. Opalach; Poppy to his cherished granddaughters Hilary and Samantha O'Brien; Dear friend to Shota Besilia; and the best dad in the world to his son, Edward and daughter, Sharon.
Living 91 years, Ed grew up in the depression, served in a World War and understood the value of a nickel. Although he never finished high school, he was a very smart man. He could build and fix anything. He was a special man who lived a wonderful life. They don't make them like that anymore.
Per his wishes, Ed will be cremated. On August 4, 2014 at 11a.m., Ed and his wife Helen will be reunited at Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
