Obituary of Walter Baer
Walter John Baer, 88, of Whiting, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood. Born in Union City, he lived in Fair Lawn before moving to Whiting 19 years ago. Walter was an engineering draftsman and project manager for Teledyne Farris Engineering, Palisades Park. He was a U.S. Army veteran during World War II and a Flotilla Commander in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was active in the community of Whiting Station and enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating with his family.
Walter is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Marilyn; his loving daughters and sons-in-law, Arlene and Tony Meola of Hillsdale, NJ, Diane and Shaun O'Day of Theresa, NY and Patti and Dave Pavoni of Wantage, NJ and his five cherished grandchildren, David, Anthony, Kali, Shannon and Jacob.
There will be a Memorial Gathering from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, June 9th with a Service at 8 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter, 400 Morris Avenue, Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.
