Obituary of Joseph Davitt

Joseph W. Davitt, 82, of Whiting, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Born in Simpson, PA, he lived in East Newark and then, Harrison for 20 years before moving to Whiting 13 years ago. Joseph was an electronics worker for Clinton Industries, Carlstadt, retiring in 1997. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Veronica Davitt; one sister, Mary Ann; two brothers, James and Val and one grandson, Joshua. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Viola; three children and their spouses, Margaret Ann and Carl Szymczak, Joseph and Vicky Davitt and Angela and Michael Katsoudas; one brother, William Davitt and three grandchildren, Nicholas and Cameron Davitt and Christoper Szymczak. Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 16th from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 10:45 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Toms River, NJ.
