Obituary of Helen Papalia

Helen L. Papalia, 92, of Toms River, NJ, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Shorrock Gardens Care Center in Brick, NJ. Born in Jersey City, NJ, she lived in Cassville before moving to Toms River in 1947. She was an eye-witness to the Hindenburg while working at her father's restaurant on the Lakehurst Naval Air Base. Helen was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Andrew Papalia in 1997. She is survived by five children, Andrew Papalia and his wife, Vicki of Lakewood, Fern Papalia of Toms River, Roseann Johansen of Norway, Philip Papalia of Toms River and Constance Hinkle and her husband, Bradford of Beachwood; ten grandchildren, Renee Gonella, Jessica Sylvester, Lorin Falana, Devyn Schulwitz, David Hinkle, Andrew Papalia, Christer Johansen, Susan Johansen, Alex Hinkle and Daniel Johansen; seven great-grandchildren, Bryanna Dawson, Austin Gonella, Maddison Gonella, Hugo Jacques, Sophie Jacques, John Falana and Ryan Falana and one great-great granddaughter, Remi Dawson. Services are private.
