Obituary of Dolores McDyer

Dolores T. McDyer, 76, of Whiting, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 19, 2013. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she lived in Staten Island, Ridgewood Queens, NY, Dublin, Donegal Ireland, Brick & Bayville before settling in Whiting, NJ 18 years ago. Dolores graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Notre Dame College in NYC and graduated from St. John's University, Queens, NY with a Master's of Science in Chemistry. She worked for the State of New Jersey as a Social Worker with the Division of Youth & Family Service in Toms River. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting, NJ. She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick Malachy McDyer in 1971; a daughter, Deirdre McDyer Tice, in 1995 and a son, Roger McDyer, in 2012. She is survived by her sons, Patrick and his wife, Laura, of Honeoye, NY and Sean and his wife, Jan, of Alpha, NJ. Dolores is also survived by her brothers, John Harnes and William Harnes and his wife, Barbara, and a sister Kathleen Harnes Batzel. Dolores is the cherished grandmother of Cara Purgavie, Gabrielle McDyer and Sarah McDyer. She is the great grandmother of Dylan and Gavin Purgavie, and is loved by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, August 22nd from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 9 am on Friday, August 23rd at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment will follow at St. Raymond's Cemetery, Bronx, NY.
