Obituary of John Mclean Cumming
John McLean Wilson Cumming, born in Elizabeth, NJ and a longtime resident of Brick, NJ, passed peacefully away on Monday, June 24, 2013. He was 87.
John retired from ATT (Bell Labs, Holmdel, NJ). He was a member and past Master of the Durand Masonic Lodge #179 F. & A.M., a member and Elder of Brick Presbyterian Church and last, but foremost, was a member of Shamrock and Thistle Pipe Band in Toms River, NJ as a Piper and teacher. He served his country in the Navy during World War II, serving in the Pacific.
John loved his home, yard and friends. But most importantly, John cherished his time spent with his family. John will be remembered by his strength and courage that he displayed throughout his life. He leaves behind a legacy of love.
He was the beloved husband of Josephine (Brown) Cumming; the devoted father of Colin Cumming and his wife, Kathy Hojer and Mary (Cumming) Bianco and her husband, Louis; the loving grandfather of four grandsons, Colin and Sean Cumming and Louis and John Bianco. He is survived by many family members, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends in New Jersey and Scotland. He was greeted in Heaven by his beloved parents, Colin and Marion and his sister Margret (Cumming) Prescher. The family asks that any memorials may be in John's name made to Masonic Charity Foundation of New Jersey, 902 Jacksonville Road, Burlington, NJ 08016.
