Obituary of Marie Miller
Marie E. Miller (nee Emery) of Whiting, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Whiting Healthcare Center in Whiting, NJ. Marie was last employed by the Heavy and General Construction Labors' Funds for Union Locals 472 and 172 located in Newark, NJ. She retired as the pension manager in 1997 after 25 years of service. Previously, before marriage and children, she was employed by AT&T Co. at its Headquarters Office in New York City. It was there that she assisted in the preparation of the "A" and "B" Series of the "Bell System Practices" which were Maintenance Manuals distributed throughout the Bell System.
Marie, who was born in Philadelphia, PA, on October 1, 1926, was raised in the "Lincoln Park" section of Jersey City, where she resided for over 60 years. She was a former longtime communicant of St. Aloysius Church. In 1948, she married John R. Miller and they, too, raised their three sons in the very same location. In 1987, they moved to Hillside, NJ and upon her retirement in 1998, they relocated to Whiting. Marie was predeceased by John, her husband of 58 years, in 2007.
Surviving are her three sons and their spouses, Stephen R. Miller and his wife, Maureen of Iselin, James Paul Miller and his wife, Caryn of Rutherford and Robert J. Miller and his wife, Cynthia of Hazlet; also surviving are her four grandchildren, Jason, Danica, Andrew and Brian Miller.
Visitation hours are form 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, April 26th at the Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, located at 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following day on Saturday at 9 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 30 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
